Architects for Hire

Because of the recent dispute of the California Pacific Medical Center's expansion plans, the company has laid off 120 architects, engineers and planners until there is more certainty about the project’s future. Issues over the agreement to renovate St. Lukes Hospital have stalled the project, as the company and the City are waiting to hire a mediator to facilitate talks. The Board of Supervisors have delayed their vote on the environmental review until at least November, meaning the project that was supposed to break ground in October won't even be up for approvals until then.
