Millionaires Complaining About Millionaires

New, 1 comment

At yesterday's public hearing on the Draft EIR for the 706 Mission Residential Tower and Mexican Museum residents of the nearby Four Seasons condos voiced their disapproval of the project. Armed with their attorney, the well-off condo residents lamented that the new building would bring more people and traffic into the area and essentially ruin their lives. The new building would be 550-feet tall with 215 residential units, with a space for the Mexican Museum on the ground floor. The developer will build the shell and the core of the museum and provide a $5 million endowment for the museum’s operation, but can only swing it financially if they get the full height approved. One commissioner said it'll "pit the people who oppose the shadows against the Mexican Museum" - we're thinking it'll pit the rich people who don't want to deal with neighbors against a developer who doesn't want to go broke.
