Sunday Streets Returns to Chinatown; Contractors to Install Fremont Street Bridge at the Transbay Transit Center Jobsite

CHINATOWN—Chinatown will play host to Sunday Streets this Sunday from 11am to 4pm. Folks from all over are encouraged to walk, ride, or roll along the car-free roadway. The route travels east from Grant Ave along Jackson and Washington streets to reach the Embarcadero, where participants can access the Embarcadero bikeway all the way to the northern waterfront where you can check out the scene of the America's Cup World Series semifinal races. TRANSBAY TRANSIT CENTER—Starting Labor Day weekend, the second of three temporary bridge installations will take place and will require a full street closure of Fremont Street. The temporary bridges are needed to maintain full operation of the streets while excavation continues beneath them. The first of the three bridge installations was on First Street over Memorial Day weekend. The upcoming street closure will take place between August 31 and September 4. [Curbed Inbox]
