Marco Carvajal of Herth Real Estate

Have you always been in the real estate industry or did you have a different career before entering brokerdom? I've been in some form of sales my entire life. I began working in real estate about 3 years ago doing leasing and corporate housing. I was destined to be a realtor considering my mother's love of real estate and her propensity towards dragging her son to every open house within 30 miles.

What do you like to do when you're not selling real estate? I spend a fair amount of time lifting weights, running, cycling, and at the dog park with my 4 year old english bulldog Lela. I frequent San Francisco's nightlife scene and travel a lot.

Best advice for buyers/renters? Persistance, patience, and a positive attitude. Whether you're looking to buy or rent in the city the competition is fierce and it's crucial that you not get flustered or frustrated.

People in your industry are always so good looking. What are some of your secret grooming tips? Thankfully I have a leg up on my competition. I was born gay and latin, so that means good hair and skin. I thank my overbearing Jewish mother and green card toting Ecuadorean father for that.

Scott Brittain of Hill & Co.

What's the best part about selling real estate in San Francisco? The best part about selling real estate in San Francisco is the unique nature of this city and the homes within it. There is so much history and character to this city and each home I place my clients into always comes with its own unique tale. Additionally, I love that this city is always changing and evolving. I was born and raised in this city, but every time I step out of my door I find new things, meet new people and stumble upon hidden gems that this city has to offer.

What's the most rewarding part about what you do? The most rewarding part of the real estate is the diverse clientele you meet and the bonds you forge with them. I have had clients from all different walks of life and have been fortunate to work with some awesome people. Also, housewarming parties are a big perk of my job. I get to walk around the party and broadcast how important I am. It's essential for everyone to know that if it wasn't for me, they wouldn't be enjoying such a fun party.

What separates you from the others in this competition? My refusal to lose is what separates me from the others in this competition. You could put Ryan Gosling into this competition and it wouldn't matter one bit. Gosling knows better than to challenge me. I will do whatever it takes to win. I am better than everyone in this competition at finding hilarious Youtube videos online, useless knowledge and my undying love for the Giants and the 49ers. I also do a pretty solid job of being a fair weather Warriors and Sharks fan. In other words, I am the manliest nominee in this competition.

What do you like to do when you're not selling real estate? When I am not selling real estate, I enjoy hanging out with my girlfriend Ashley, our dog Cooper, my friends and family. I love hanging out in The City, Sonoma or taking a trip to Lake Tahoe. I also enjoy being around the sport of lacrosse. I have been playing for years and I have coached at my alma mater, Saint Ignatius, for the last five years.
