Free Baseball Parking Over In 2013

New, 3 comments

Free parking is about to end in Mission Bay. For years, baseball fans have been gaming the meters around the ballpark– which now expire at 6:00PM. But not for much longer. The SFMTA will be installing 200 new meters that will eventually extend to 10:00PM and charge extra during games. The new fees and hours won't go into effect until Spring 2013. Transit officials hope it will cut down on drivers endlessly hunting for spots and increase transit use. Why do we think that some people will be delighted to pay the extra fees? No waiting in a line of cars trying to get in and out of the Giant's parking lots. And of course, the new meters will take credit cards along with quarters.
