Yesterday the Planning Commission voted unanimously against the plan to turn the vacant church at 1601 Larkin Street into a 27-unit condo development. The Commission voted that the proposed project was too big and out-of-scale with the neighborhood. The United Methodist Church, who still owns the property, is now involved in a suit to force San Francisco to issue a demolition permit since it's not safe to occupy. This ain't the first rodeo for any of the parties involved, so it will inevitably continue to drag on. [SFGate/CurbedSF]
