The Assembly and Senate voted last Friday to provide $6B for high speed rail between LA and SF, with construction to begin in the Central Valley between Bakersfield and Madera. We're assuming the powers that be are starting in the Central Valley because the two other ends— we're looking at you, Palo Alto and Burbank— are fraught with disagreements over the route and noise. Let's plan on lunch in LA in 2025, meanwhile Caltrains down the Peninsula should be electrified by 2019. [SF Appeal]
