Late in the day on Tuesday, a judge restrained the new Santa Clara oversight board— one of dozens around the state currently managing the assets of now-defunct local redevelopment agencies— from pulling $30M from the 49ers stadium budget. It seems the heartless bureaucrats want to spend the money on schools. The current budget for the new stadium is $1.2B, and while state law now mandates that redevelopment funds be reallocated for education, the 49ers management claims the cash is theirs because the $30M was previously approved by voters. A hearing is scheduled for July 27. [Mercury News/Curbed SF]
