"Across cultures and history, nature has been regarded as a compelling healing force, connecting individuals to the cycles of life and inspiring renewal and hope." Not content with just a few potted plants, UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay is incorporating landscape design into patient care and with gardens throughout the campus. We like the idea of having a garden off the ICU where patient families can find a respite from what's going on inside instead of having to wander through sterile hallways to find a bad cup of coffee. There will be a total of four acres of outdoor space designed by AECOM. [UCSF]
