Party Bus Crackdown

New, 1 comment

San Mateo State Assemblyman Jerry Hill is proposing new legislation that would add restrictions on party buses that allow alcohol and transport to nightclubs. Assembly Bill 45 would close a loophole that exempts bus drivers from rules that apply to limo drivers, including checking that people on board are 21. Under the new law, if people are under age, the company has to require a chaperone over 25 years old to be responsible. Apparently the party buses have caused crowd and noise control issues on Polk Street, so Community Leadership Alliance (a Polk Street neighborhood group) supports the legislation. Bus companies are also working with the assemblyman's office to hammer out the details. [SF Appeal/Photo: Shutterstock]
