Banning Some Smokers

New, 1 comment

Supervisor Eric Mar has introduced a proposal that would allow medically-prescribed marijuana smokers to light up at street fairs or other outdoor activities held on city property, but smoking anything else would be banned (like cigarettes). "It's widely known that secondhand smoke is responsible for as many as 73,000 deaths among non-smokers each year in the United States, and there is no safe level of exposure," Mar said. The proposal states that event sponsors would have to be adamant about posting "No Smoking" signs and make "No Smoking" announcements during events. [CBS SF/photo via Shutterstock]
