Carl Nolte Remembers What We Forget

"But sometimes I worry about the old San Francisco. You know, the city we lived in just yesterday afternoon." Elder statesman and local hero Carl Nolte— who's been around long enough to know— casts an eye at the new boom we seem to be in the midst of. He reminds us San Francisco is historically a place for booms and busts, sometimes spectacular, recalling the 1874 silver boom (which he was not present for) to the dot.com era (which he was.) Real estate wise, he seems ever so slightly wistful about Potrero Hill. [Carl Nolte/SFGate]
