Urban Ag Approved

New, 1 comment

San Francisco loves its gardens, and now the Supervisors have made it official. Yesterday they unanimously voted to establish an Urban Agriculture Program, which will coordinate a whole slew of city agencies to work together. The program will streamline permitting processes, provide seed, compost, tools and advice to residents, provide food-growth-related job training, and ensure that spaces (especially public ones) are being fully utilized. The Mayor’s office will draft a strategic plan for the program by the end of the year. Now if only they could figure out a way to make kids eat their veggies. [SF Gov/Photo: Shutterstock]
