We told you back in January that due to budget cuts, some San Francisco homeowners are now responsible for taking care of the trees outside their house, even if the tree was there before they purchased the property. Today the Examiner brings word that Public Works is asking more residents to take custody of trees outside their homes, which can be very costly. “We have no input at all in the decision to plant these trees, and now they’re telling us that we have to pay for them?” Henry Kanilowicz, president of the Small Property Owners of San Francisco Institute said. “A public tree is a public tree, and the public should collectively be responsible for it.” [SF Examiner/photo via Shutterstock]
