The Chron spends some time with Muriel and Paul Russell, an Oakland couple who gave it (whatever "it" is) all up to retire in North San Juan, near Nevada City. Having sold their house in Oakland for more than they ever imagined possible, they moved into an inherited cabin in the woods. Mr. Russell now writes a little, plays his guitar in a local cafe, and says "living here is a trade-off. There are things we don't get that we had in the Bay Area. But there's so much that we get. I'm never leaving here." Aside from the occasional mountain lion sighting, sounds pretty sweet. [SFGate]
