CPMC Loophole

Mayor Ed Lee is trying to renegotiate a loophole in the California Pacific Medical Center deal. Apparently the project approvals allowed for CPMC to close the St. Luke’s facility in the Mission if the system’s operating margin fell below 1% for two years in a row. The Mayor and the Supervisors all touted a viable St. Luke's as a big selling point for the larger institutional master plan, but now the financial numbers might make it less of a sure thing. The Mayor's staff is currently undertaking negotiations with the medical center. [SF Gate/Photo: SF Planning]
