At yesterday's BoS meeting, Board of Supervisors President David Chiu introduced legislation that would require new and renovated buildings in the City to include water bottle-filling stations. In addition to stating that it'd save consumers money, Chiu said that "every 27 hours, Americans consume enough bottled water to circle the entire equator with plastic bottles stacked end to end." If everything goes smoothly, developers could see this new requirement on the books as early as January of next year. [SFGate]
