More Pool, Please

San Francisco’s population of more than 800,000 has access to just eight public pools, or less than one per 100,000 residents. And that's just the adults. The Examiner looks at the shortage of places for kids to learn how to swim for free. Rec & Parks' lessons are free but limited, so they get booked early and predictably, have a waiting list. No count on how many private pools there are in town, but a little snooping on our part found out the YMCA kid's program at Letterman Pool is just $50 a month for two classes a week, but that's still out of reach for a lot of city kids.
