Yesterday the Board of Supervisors approved the zoning map and General Plan amendments for the 8 Washington project with a 8-3 vote. The Supes were won over when developers agreed to add an extra $2 million to the City's affordable housing fund (in addition to the $9 million required by law) and make the pool accessible a few hours a week for city-run swim lessons for low-income kids. Don’t get too excited though - the same old opponents have threatened to stop the project by referendum, which would require enough signatures to but the matter before voters in November, or lawsuit, or both.
