Gentrification Watch

New, 6 comments

Twitter's begun its move into the historic and Shorenstein-owned Market Square building at 1355 Market Street, where about 800 Twitter employees will fill at least three of the 11 floors. About 90% of the building's leased out and almost exclusively to tech companies like Yammer and retail website One Kings Lane. While some worry that the gentrification of the area will push out poor residents, Mark Woolway, a Yammer executive vice president, said "with that influx of highly paid, very talented workers, the are's going to transform very rapidly, I think." So yeah, nail down that rent-controlled apartment before it's too late. [SF Examiner]
