Rental Woes

This week's Tenant Troubles question over at the SF Appeal comes from a soon-to-be mother who's wondering if her landlord can kick her and her husband out since their lease agreement specifically specifies that the apartment's max occupancy is two human beings, even though their household is about to increase to three. The answer, thankfully, is a solid no. To quote Dave Crow, an attorney who specialized in San Francisco landlord tenant law, the "California legislature has made it crystal clear that we do not tolerate discrimination against families with children or pregnant women with respect to housing."
