Record Tourism Numbers Expected For 2012

As you may already know by the throngs of tourists who are always walking around your neighborhood while staring at a map, tourism is big business here in the City. In fact, it's San Francisco's number one industry, and generates more than $8 billion a year. The San Francisco Travel Association project that 2012 will bring record numbers of folks to the City, especially because of events like the Golden Gate Bridge's 75th Anniversary and the U.S. Open golf tournament at the Olympic Club (June 11-17). There's also the America's Cup in August, and the Stern Grove free summer music series is celebrating its 75th anniversary beginning June 24. [ABC 7/photo via Shutterstock]
