High Praise

John King happily reports national recognition for the Richardson Apartments, the supportive housing at Fulton & Gough. AIA and HUD awards went to David Baker + Partners and Andrea Cochran Landscape Architects at the 2012 Housing Awards for their Mercy Housing project. Another honoree was GLS Landscape Architecture for their Tenderloin "urban oasis" at the Kroc Center, and as King points out, the awards set high design standards for sheltering the most fragile urban populations. Heading across the bay to Berkeley, he marvels at the newly-renovated North Branch Library building, built in 1936 and just renovated by Architectural Resources Group with architects Tom Eliot Fisch, citing the library's rotunda as part of Berkeley's Arts & Crafts Style legacy.
