People in Palo Alto are whining again, this time over a move by supervisors to shift recreation infrastructure funds some say were intended only for use at Stanford University. The Supes there want to build a pedestrian and bike bridge over 101 linking up to the Bay Trail and close a gap in the trail in East Palo Alto. Naturally, there are people in Palo Alto who want the funds spent at the Stanford campus, apparently based on the theory that no one at Stanford bikes the Bay Trail, ever. Plus the new bridge and path extension might benefit someone in East Palo Alto. The shifted funds will only cover about half the project's cost, so it's not happening this summer.
