Today In John King

John King talks about one of his favorite buildings, George Kelham's 1928 Russ Building at 235 Montgomery Street. The Chron's architecture critic calls the high-rise Gothic skyscraper radiant, enticing and regal, and admires the "masonry cliff" of the terra-cotta block facade. And rightly so, from a time when when Gothic's reach for the sky aesthetic matched the architect's ambition. [John King/SF Gate, Photo Credit: John King/Cityscapes; previously at Curbed SF]
