Pragmatism or Preservation?

New, 3 comments

Demolition of the Chinese Hospital is up before the Planning Commission today as part of a comprehensive plan to bring the community facility into the 21st Century. The Commission is looking at the Draft EIR, which calls for replacement with a new, 120-foot high building on the site to replace the seismically challenged vintage building, considered a "Historic Resource." There's all sorts of other stuff involved, including creating a special use district to get around current height and parking restrictions. No voting, just comments.
