The 49ers plan to leave us for their big and fancy new $1.2 billion stadium in Santa Clara has some folks wondering what's in store for Candlestick Park. "If and when the 49ers abandon Candlestick, we will initiate discussions with The City to accelerate plans to demolish the stadium," said Kofi Bonner, Lennar Urban's president. While that's practical- and let's be honest: Candlestick Park is not the most enjoyable place to spend an evening- some fans will be sad to see it go. "It's a place people grew up going to," said Steven Davila after Wednesday's Giants game against the Oakland A's. "It was windy and cold, but it showed the faithfulness of the fan base."
