Motel Or SRO?

New, 5 comments

There's trouble brewing for a small motel near Ocean Beach called the Beach Motel. The Beach Motel has been operating as a place for tourists to lay their head at night since it opened in the late 1950s. That soon could change. An unresolved case brought by the Tenderloin Housing Clinic says the hotel is in violation of city regulations and is supposed to be an SRO, aka single-room occupancy residential hotel. The lawyers for the motel fear that the change would turn the building into a homeless structure. We'll update you on this legal battle as it develops. [ABC News]
