We're totally smitten with this c.1940 house in the Chinatown-adjacent downslope of of Nob Hill. 1151 Washington Street is fully detached, and unlike so many mid-block houses, has open views along the side. Which don't seem to have been blocked much by the new (and almost-complete) multi-generational Chinese Recreation Center Center next door. Asking $2,295,000 and on a 137-foot deep lot, the 3-bed, 2.5-bath, 1-vintage kitchen, 2-car garage single-family house has a wonderful garden with a view patio at the top. We got a tantalizing peek into the garden last year when looking at this house in the modernist '60s assemblage next door- the deep garden of 1151 preserves their open views. Alas, if you're not a fan of someone else's outdoor recreation, this may not be the place for you- the house and garden is still perched above the rec center's basketball court and playground. That big red chimney belongs to the Washington-Mason cable car powerhouse. Given the view and the garden, we're prepared to have noise-canceling headphones at the ready.
