After failed attempts to open stores on Bayshore Boulevard and in Visitacion Valley, the Home Depot is hoping third time's the charm and applying to open a new location in the Bayview. According to the San Francisco Business Times, San Francisco loses more than $600 million in home improvement sales revenue to retailers in Colma and Daly City. The site would be 1910 Cesar Chavez Street, the former printing facility for the Chronicle and current construction staging site for San Francisco General Hospital. The chain walked away from a site on Bayshore Boulevard four years ago, citing the recession and an overly expensive design, but it was eventually snatched up by rival chain Lowes. SF Appeal is running a poll asking readers if they'd shop at a Bayview Home Depot (so far, a resounding yes).
