Moving Right Along

"It was always the plan to remake Jefferson Street, the America's Cup just acted as the catalyst," Neil Hrushowy of the Planning Department said. "Everyone is still very excited with moving forward with this project." You may recall that the Jefferson Street Plan calls for wider sidewalks, removing on-street parking and introduce two-way traffic for two blocks of Jefferson Street in Fisherman's Wharf in an effort to make it safer for pedestrians and cyclists. Folks were concerned about financing the plan when planned investments for the America's Cup were scaled back from $111M to $10M to $18M last month. We're happy to report that the plan will still move forward as originally scheduled. [SF Examiner / photo via kompasstudio / Shutterstock.com]
