Mayor Ed Lee was on the scene yesterday to celebrate the opening of Dottie's True Blue Cafe on Sixth Street. While making a speech about revitalizing Mid-Market, the mayor took a moment to promise that the plan to build a Police Department substation along Sixth Street as part of his goal to revitalize the blighted neighborhood is still on, regardless of redevelopment funds being unavailable. Roughly $300,000 has already been set aside for the project via the now-defunct redevelopment agency, and Lee wants to use it to start the party. "We want ? to use that money immediately as we spend weeks trying to figure out how to get the rest of it," Lee said.
