Commemorating Jack Early

The Board of Supervisors are set to approve a commemorative plaque in honor of Jack Early on the sidewalk of Stockton Street in front of Washington Square Park. Mr. Early single-handedly created and maintained a mini-park, Jack E. Early Park, on a steep slope of Telegraph Hill at the crest of Pfeiffer Street. He donated five large evergreen trees to the city upon his death, and the Telegraph Hill Dwellers planted them in Washington Square Park in May 2011. [SF Gov/SF Gate]
