Fleishhacker Pool Building Fire

The bathhouse building for the old Fleishhacker Pool on the San Francisco Zoo grounds caught fire this weekend. Built in 1925, the building served as the pump station for the saltwater pool. Owned by the Rec and Park Department, the building has sat vacant since the pool closed in 1971, and has been a hotspot for vandalism. Saturday's fire caused the roof to collapse and blew out the boarded windows. The fire itself had no impact on zoo operations, and the cause is still under investigation.
