We've talked before about the long gestating plan to makeover the Wharf's Jefferson Street, but now things are finally moving ahead. On January 2nd, construction will begin on a $5.5M renovation of the tourist-friendly street with a goal of finishing in time for the America's Cup on July 4. The upgrade ranges from such mundane improvements as new trees and benches to more radical changes like extending sidewalks and the permanent removal of 33 parking spaces.
