Sup. Wiener vs. Food Trucks

He's taken on naked people, dog walkers, and now food trucks - Supervisor Scott Wiener proposed legislation that would expand food truck access to more areas of the city but limit their proximity to restaurants. Restaurants have been complaining food trucks steal some of their business by setting up shop outside their doors, so the new rules would create a 50-foot buffer around existing restaurants that would be off-limits to trucks. The leg would also make food trucks MORE accessible, reducing the distance that food trucks are allowed to operate in near public high schools and middle schools (currently 1500 feet) and allowing food trucks to operate on hospital and college campuses that sit within residential zoning districts, where they're currently prohibited.
