The Pacific Rod and Gun Club has finally reached an agreement with the city on a new lease and will remain open. After many months of confusion and name-calling over decades-worth of lead bullets and clay pigeons that are littering the area, the Public Utilities Commission and club owners agreed that the shooting range can stay at Lake Merced for up to two more years with a month-to-month lease before the situation is re-evaluated. Under the new lease, PUC and the club will figure out funding options through the club's insurance policy to help pay for as much of the cleanup as possible. It's not all smooth sailing yet - once the cleanup is completed, there will be a public process to determine if a shooting range is the best use of space on Lake Merced.
