MUJI opened in SoMa today at 540 9th Street; this is the Japanese retailer's first West Coast store. The 2-story space is 7,250 square feet and offers up more than 2,000 products. Prices are reasonable for most items—we picked up a notepad, fancy pen, and oddly shaped post-its for less than $10. The wool jackets we looked at were around $120. If you get a chance to hit up the store today (special hours are from 11AM to 8PM today only, with regularly hours of 10:30AM to 8PM from Monday to Saturday and 11AM to 6:30PM on Sundays starting tomorrow), MUJI is giving away a reusable bag (retail value $1) that has a nifty map of some of San Francisco on it.
