The Trader Joe's in the old Cala Foods space at 1401 California Street at Hyde opened for business today. There have been very few noticeable changes to the facade (outside of signage), and we're pleased as punch that Trader Joe's/CVS decided to keep the trademark swooping concrete roof. When we visited the store today it was surprisingly mellow, but that's probably because we showed up around noon on a weekday. Store hours are from 8AM to 9PM daily. This will be Trader Joe's fifth location in San Francisco. Readers who live in the surrounding neighborhoods, how stoked are you to finally have a grocery store in your 'hood that's more than 3,000 square feet?
