Developers Eye Flower Mart (Again)

New, 1 comment

Zappettini Properties has filed an application with the Planning Department to build a 567,000-sq.ft. office building on their portion of the southeastern corner of the Flower Mart property at 620 Brannan Street. While the proposed building site would only occupy 10% of the Flower Mart, it is proposed as part of the larger Central Corridor Plan in response to the Central Subway project. Redevelopment of the Flower Mart site has always been complicated by the fact that the marketplace has dozens of owners and more than 100 vendors who would need to be relocated (Academy of Art learned that the hard way back in 2008), though Zappettini stresses that their parcel could be redeveloped without adversely impacting the overall flower market operation.
