Trouble Brewing Over Marina Green

New, 2 comments

The Recreation and Parks Department has a proposal to allow a Woodhouse Fish Co. restaurant on Marina Green at the site of a building formerly owned by the U.S. Navy, and one neighbor is not happy about it. Neighborhood groups and residents are split on supporting the project for the Marina Degaussing Station building that has sat empty for 30 years. A neighbor living across the street from the site says the restaurant would cause traffic, light pollution, impact birds, increase noise, and shouldn't serve alcohol because children play soccer there. But he's willing to put his money where his mouth is - offering to pay for the structure's conversion into a clubhouse for kids instead. The Board of Supervisors Government Audit and Oversight Committee will vote on the lease proposal today. [SF Examiner/photo: Midglen Studio]
