2175 Market Is A Go

The 88-unit mixed-use project at 2175 Market Street was finally approved by the Planning Commission last week, after making a bunch of tweaks to appease neighborhood groups. After an appeal raised concerns about traffic conditions along 15th Street with all the new construction projects going up in the area, and lots of speakers sang the same tune that there should be more two-bedroom units for families. While the commission agreed the intersection was a mess of traffic, they thought it required a larger discussion on Upper Market traffic patterns and didn't concern this individual project. They denied the appeal and approved the project unanimously, saying "it creates an innovative solution for a difficult site." [SFGovTV; Curbed SF archives]
