Think of the Trees

New, 6 comments

Supervisor Scott Wiener called a hearing yesterday to discuss the City's increasingly difficult problem with San Francisco's tree care system. There are 670,000 trees in SF, and the City oversees 110,000 street trees and 130,000 park trees. The Department of Public Works is currently in the process of transferring all of the street trees to property owners care - a move that upsets both property owners and city officials. "By any measure, this is not the right way to take care of our street trees and results in wildly inconsistent maintenance," said Wiener. [SF Examiner/photo via sf eyes]
