More on Tiny Apartments

New, 1 comment

The SF Examiner has more on the tiny apartment trend, comparing the future density of the city to that of Tokyo. Micro-pad developer Patrick Kennedy is quoted as saying the target demographic for the apartments are folks who work in the city like "hotel workers, people that work in retail" and students. A far cry from the young tech workers the apartments were originally targeting. Some hope adding small apartments into the housing mix will free up the 3-4 bedroom units in older buildings for families, instead of single people with roommates. The Supes will vote on Kennedy's 150 sq.ft. unit project on Eighth Street next month. [SF Examiner/previously on Curbed SF]
