Lawsuit Over Literal Turf War

The SF Coalition for Children's Outdoor Play, Education and Environment has filed a lawsuit challenging the environmental review of the Golden Gate Park's Beach Chalet soccer fields project to add artificial turf. The group claims the report didn't examine the potential health effects of the chemicals in the turf or examine other alternatives (like different kinds of turf or real grass). This lawsuit comes at the same time the Golden Gate Park Preservation Alliance, who failed to appeal the environmental review certification, is appealing to the California Coastal Commission to reconsider its approval of the plan.
