iPhone App Helps You Track Down POPOS

New, 1 comment

It's no secret that here at Curbed we're big fans of POPOS (privately-owned public open spaces), and now a new app will make them even easier to find. SPUR and developer Escape Apps have released 'SF's Secret Spaces and Hidden Oases', an app that documents and maps downtown's POPOS. It works like a guidebook to downtown, with tips on park closing times and suggestions for improvements like better signage or the need for a restroom. This comes hot on the heels of this summer's planning code change requiring informational plaques for all POPOS so they're easier to find. To access the guide, you first have to download the 'Know What' city guide and map app, which will include 19 of the POPOS. If you want to expand the app to include all 52 POPOS, you have to purchase 'SF's Secret Parks and Hidden Oases' from the Contributors Collection (find it under the "Nature & Outdoors" category). It'll cost you $1.99, but all the proceeds go to SPUR. Word is a version for Android phones will be available later this year.
