Central Subway Hits the Jackpot

New, 1 comment

The Central Subway project is set to receive a $942 million federal grant today from the Department of Transportation. The grant has been stalled since it was first applied for back in September 2011 due to state and local funding uncertainties, but now that its been secured, the project should have full funding for construction. However, there are still those pesky lawsuits against the station construction plans in North Beach and Union Square. Mayor Lee, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, Nancy Pelosi, Dianne Feinstein, and Jackie Speier are all expected to be on hand for a news conference on Stockton Street between Ellis and O'Farrell streets at 1:30pm today.
