The 10 Least Expensive Properties For Sale in SoMa

This week we combed through the listings to show you the cheapest residential real estate in SoMa. All the homes listed are up for grabs, meaning we didn't include any listing that has a sale that's currently pending. We're sharing property between Market Street and the James Lick Freeway and 3rd Street and the Central Freeway.

10) 428 8th Street, #201
Asking price: $538,000
Size: 1-bed, 1.5-bath; 1,056 square feet
Price per square foot: $509
The skinny: This loft at the Design Center Lofts has downtown and bridge views. It last sold in 2003 for $418,000. It made several appearances on the MLS in 2009, but eventually was delisted. Monthly HOA dues are $378 and there's 1-car parking in the garage. We should point out that this building has an awesome roof deck.

Size: 1-bed, 1-bath; 946 square feet
Price per square foot: $560
The skinny: In the middle of last year this condo at the Museum Park building was foreclosed and bank owned. Now it's back and with a brand new price. The building's got plenty of amenities, including a 24-hour doorman and a heated pool. Monthly HOA dues are $542.01 and there's 1-car parking in the garage.

The skinny: This brand spankin' new condo is packed full of bells and whistles, like a a "designer kitchen" and a fancy Bonelli window system. Brokerbabble tells us that this unit's "solar ready." Monthly HOA dues are $406 and there's 1-car parking in the garage. There's also bike storage.

The skinny: This loft's a short sale. It's a top floor corner loft that features a plethora of upgrades, including shiny and new stainless steel appliances and upgraded carpets. Monthly HOA dues are $483.53 and there's 1-car parking in the garage.

6) 1221 Harrison Street, #15

Size: 1-bed, 2-bath; 1,162 square feet
Price per square foot: $419
The skinny: This is a bank owned Iron Works loft. It's been on and off the market for some time now. Redfin agents state that it's a "nice, clean, secure building," but also that there's a "streetlamp directly outside the window" and "living room overlooks large bus parking lot."

The skinny: Another unit's up for grabs in the brand new 788 Minna building. Monthly HOA dues are $400 and there's 1-car parking in the garage.

The skinny: This is another loft that's been on and off the market for years. This loft's a little different because there's actually two lofts, not one. Redfin agents tell us that the unit and building are "rather dated" and that "this unit does not have a modern feel but could be updated with some work."

Size: 1-bed, 1-bath; 1,057 square feet
Price per square foot: $434
The skinny: It's a short sale. First listed in August of 2011 for $525,000, this unit's price has been reduced five times. It's described as having a "beautiful and spacious floorplan." Monthly HOA dues are $337 and there's 1-car parking in the garage.

The skinny: And the cheapest piece of residential real estate currently for sale (pending sales not included!) goes to unit #8 at 175 Russ. Broker babble tells us that "loft 8 is an end-unit and boasts a large outdoor patio." Monthly HOA dues are $301.23 and there's 1-car parking in the garage.
