Troublesome Muni Shelters

New, 3 comments

Any resident of San Francisco knows that Muni shelters aren't always used to provide electronic updates of when buses will be arriving and protect waiting passengers from the elements. Sometimes people use them for illegal activity. A "hotbed for criminal activity," as the SF Examiner puts it. The SFMTA has noticed, and is trying to develop a policy for when it's OK to remove transit shelters. The proposed policy states that a transit shelter will only be removed if a hazardous situation or accessibility ssue cannot be addressed. Tomorrow the SFMTA will hopefully approve the new policy.
