The Embarcadero: America's Cup Wants Your Open Waterfront

John King weighed in last week about the proposed "temporary" mega-yacht mooring planned along the open waterfront of Rincon Park- in front of Cupid's Span- for the America's Cup Race in 2013. And it looks like the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission [BCDC] is about to have a few words on the matter as well. In their response to the Draft EIR for the race, BCDC staff raised objections to the proposed dredging and moorings- which have the potential to become a permanent marina. Mark your calendars: on Monday, September 12 at 6:30PM the BCDC board will meet to review at the Ferry Building. Should be interesting. Besides, nothing like a few oysters at Hog Island and a glass of Sancerre to start off the proceedings, right? The link provides a contact for questions or comments if you just can't make it down there.
